The Dog Training Tips You must Be Aware of

A dog is a dog and a cat a cat, and pets are pets. Some of them we are able to train to do certain things and with others it is just not possible. But a dog can be trained to a very high degree, or just to do natures bit outside and not right under your feet.

Dog training has no secrets, or yes there is a secret, it is called patience. But it is not for the dog it is for the human who is training him. Dog training tip number one.

That elusive single dog training tip, the secret to revealing how to train your dog has been eluding the human specie since forever. Every now and again someone will come up with something close to a tip, but it may or may not work for you.

Every dog is different and then they all come from different makes and sized, true breeds, and well, just dogs. His mother was a dog and his father was a dog so then he is a dog, right?

Many people seem to “have a way with dogs” in the sense that they can ask a dog to do anything and the dog will adhere to the command straight away. Your turn comes and after five minutes of really doing your utmost best all you have in return is a blank stare. Next you feel like a clown in a circus acting to an audience of dogs.

There is a saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” normally this refers to humans but in fact if you do not start training your dog at a young age your chances of training him are slim. The first few months of your dog’s life is when you will have the greatest influence on him; this is where he is shaped into the dog he is going to be when he is all grown up.

The tone of your voice is what will make the difference between action and a stare. The dog needs to know that you mean business but also that you are not angry at him. You must find that sweet spot in your voice that shows dominance but compassion. If you are constantly shouting at your dog the best you will get is confusion. How is he supposed to know whether he has done something right or wrong?

A lot of praise and attention is another great dog training tip. Dogs won’t learn the difference between good and bad unless they get treated differently. When your dog does something bad don’t scream and shout at him, just strictly tell him it was wrong and not to do it again. When he does it right shower him with cuddles, treats and praise. Dogs come to learn that when they do something that they are told they will get rewarded for it and then after a while it just becomes second nature to them, of course praise will still be needed!
